PO KRZYKU (AFTER THE SCREAM) PERFORMANCE
When?
04 JUNE 2017
Performance Po Krzyku (After the Scream) is a choreographic reflection on the work of Pola Nireńska. This Polish dancer and choreographer of Jewish background began her career in the interim years in the Mary Wigman dance group. At the 1934 Dance Congress in Vienna, she won an award for her choreography piece Krzyk (Scream). However, Pola Nireńska’s solo career was a continuous, lonely and filled with fear escape from the Nazi persecution. Photos of the artist, descriptions of her pre-war solo performances and traces of the German Ausdruckstanz in her work, are the object of study for the group. In terms of choreography, we reference the artistic process of Mary Wigman.
